An interesting pairing of Champagne with different local exotic cheeses. What works and what doesn't? Come along and see! Tasting will be followed by a dinner of Boeuf Bourguignon, cheese platters and coffee.

An Evening of Champagne and Cheese, Wine and Food
Date: Tuesday 27 October 2009
Place: Bon Fromage Restaurant, Main Road, Newlands, opposite the road to SA Breweries, corner Main road and Dean street.
Parking: Free parking is available in the lot on Main road on the left just before Bon Fromage.
Time: 6.30 pm
Cost per person: R250

Evening Programme:
Welcome drink: An Mcc will be served to guests on arrival.
Champagnes: We will taste 5 very different champagnes with a variety of different local exotic farm cheeses- to see which combinations work and which don't.
Champagnes will be:
Jacquesson 732- extra dry and complex blended non vintage
Colin Blanche de Castille- 100% Chardonnay
Drappier Rosé - 100% Pinot Noir
Duval-Leroy Vintage 1996 - Rich Vintage blend 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir
Lacombe Demi sec - An off dry blended non vintage
The champagnes will be tasted with 5 different cheeses slected from Bon Fromage's lovely range.
Dinner: The champagne and cheese tasting will be followed by a hearty Boeuf Bourguignon served with our lovely Chateau de Sours Bordeaux Rosé, then cheese platters and coffee.
(Should guests like to bring their own red wine to accompany dinner, that is also fine- no corkage)
There are vegetarian options available- but please request this when booking.
